So today is = the big announcement day! We wanted to wait until ultrasound conferment before making the big announcement! We had decided that whenever we did become pregnant that the first person we would tell would be Derek's mom, Sandy, because it is her first grandchild! So the plan was set! We would call her and tell her that I had a work related question for her and that I was going to send her an email that I needed her to look over. However, instead of being a work email it was a picture of my first positive pregnancy test! She totally fell for it and when she checked her email no words could describe her excitement! I swore her to secrecy until we could tell my family.
To tell my family we convinced my older sister, Tonya, and her family to come over to our parents house for a visit. While everyone was there we gave my mom and dad, Elizabeth and Larry, a belated anniversary card. Inside of it I hand wrote "Sorry, we forgot about your anniversary. Your present will be here in about 9 months!" Mom almost cried! My 4 year old nephew, Sam, shouted "You're gonna have a baby?!?" It was too cute!
Then i got on the phone to call the rest of our relatives to inform them of the good news. Also, I gave Derek's mom permission to post about her 'grandma' status. Then a bunch more phone calls and text messages to friends. The air was abuzz with congratulations and well wishes for myself and Derek!
